Unlike the soft-sided coolers you’ll find on the shelves of the big box stores, the Engel Cooler BackPack is engineered to withstand harsh use on land or sea. It features a rugged, tear-resistant 500-denier polyester diamond ripstop outer shell with a waterproof TPE coating for easy cleaning. On the inside, there are 2 radiant barrier liners of reflective foil – another exclusive Engel feature you won’t find on other bags. Sandwiched in-between is a 1 inch thick layer of closed-cell foam insulation.

While the insulation effectively minimizes heat transfer to maintain cold inner temperatures, the radiant barrier liners reflects the sun’s long-wave heat radiation to further enhance the Engel Cooler BackPack’s cold-keeping capabilities. Under typical conditions, the Engel Cooler BackPack will hold ice for up to three days.

Easy Access with Room To Spare

With a whopping 23 quart capacity, there is plenty of room for food and snacks, a hearty picnic lunch – or more than 24 cans of ice-cold, liquid refreshment. The top opening features a heavy-duty two-way water-repellant zipper that pulls open for full access to the main inner compartment. Next to the main opening, there is a zippered side pocket, an ideal place to put an Engel Cooler Pak or two. (Engel Cooler Paks will keep the adjacent contents in the main section cold without relying upon ice – freeing up more space for groceries and eliminating sloppy meltwater.)

Exclusive Patented Inner Liner

In the main compartment, contents are held in a patented, removable liner bag that attaches around the top with hook-and-loop fasteners. The reinforced bag is puncture-resistant and features Microban® anti-microbial protection. This exclusive Engel feature protects the inside of the bag and, best of all, makes for easy clean up at the end of the trip.

Pockets, Handles and Straps

The flat bottom of the cooler bag is fitted with four non-skid feet to keep it from sliding around on deck. There are mesh side pockets for items that don’t require cooling, a large zippered front pocket for plates, flatware and cooking supplies, and an outer pocket for last minute items. Sturdy tote handles slide onto your shoulder or you can carry the Engel Cooler BackPack by hand. Plus, there are padded, breathable shoulder straps that make it easy to carry this Engel as a backpack.
